The label rules treatment out in these cases
The labels checked September 28, 2026 rule out tesamorelin during pregnancy and with active cancer.
The pituitary is a gland, a body part that makes and releases substances. Its hormones are chemical messages that tell other body parts what to do.
The labels also rule it out with a known allergy to its ingredients or certain damage to the system that controls the pituitary gland.
That system may be affected by removal of the gland, some tumours or surgery, radiation to the head, or a head injury.
Bring any such history to the visit. Ask what an unclear term in your records means and how it fits the drug label.
Past cancer needs a separate review
For past cancer that has been treated and is stable, the label calls for weighing the possible benefit against the risk of cancer returning.
That caution is not proof that this drug causes cancer.
Ask how the clinician would review your own history. A general answer about cancer does not resolve that personal decision.
Pregnancy and breastfeeding need direct discussion
The label warns that the drug could harm an unborn baby.
It says treatment is to stop if pregnancy occurs.
It also says mothers receiving tesamorelin are not to breastfeed.
Ask the clinician to address pregnancy, plans for pregnancy and breastfeeding in the care discussion.
Bring the full medicine list
Growth hormone is a chemical message that helps build tissue, the material in muscles and other body parts. It also helps the body break down fat. The label warns that more growth hormone may change how quickly the liver breaks down some other medicines. That may change how long those medicines stay in the body.
Bring the names from the labels of the drugs you use. Ask the clinician to review the list and explain what it means for the plan.
The September 2026 label says the long-term effects on the heart and blood vessels are still unknown.
Bring the details that an advert cannot know
Keep past care, current medicines and pregnancy questions on the visit list. Ask how each affects the decision.
