Start with the reason for the visit
If the question arose during HIV care, bring it to the clinician who handles that care. If the goal is weight change or another concern, name that goal first.
Ask whether the service assesses that concern, which clinician would see you, and how to share any records you already have. This keeps the first conversation about your situation.
A prescriber is a health professional who can issue a prescription, the written order for a medicine.
In-person care: what will the clinic handle?
For a visit in a room, ask whether the clinic evaluates the reason you are looking into tesamorelin. Ask how it handles test results, questions between visits, and follow-up.
You can ask these questions before paying for the visit. Keep the answers beside the clinician's name and the fee being quoted.
Telehealth: your location matters
Telehealth is care at a distance, using a video call, phone call or online exchange.
The clinician must meet the care rules where you are during the visit, according to US health department guidance reviewed September 26, 2026.
Each state sets its own requirements, and they differ, as of September 26, 2026.
Tell the service where you will be when the visit takes place. Then ask how to check the clinician's authority to provide care there.
An assessment needs room for questions
Guidance for medical boards was adopted in May 2026. It says picking a drug from a menu without an assessment falls short of the care standard.
The guidance also says to give patients a chance to ask follow-up questions.
This guidance is advice for state medical boards, the agencies that oversee doctors. Each state decides which parts to adopt; the clinic must follow that state's rules.
Look for a conversation you can check
Leave with a clinician's name, a clear purpose for the visit and a way to ask another question.
